SafeDSX is in early access. Start with a few non-essential files and check that you can restore them.
Open file or folder backup, select your source and check the displayed path. Save the archive to a folder on a different disk. Two partitions on one physical disk do not provide two independent copies against disk failure.
Use a long, unique password and store it securely. There is no recovery service for a forgotten archive password. If you enable split backups, keep all parts together.
Check that the operation completed successfully and run archive verification. Open the file vault and extract a few files into a new, empty folder. Compare their contents with the originals. Keep your source copy until you have confirmed that the restored files open.
If you have an FTPS or S3-compatible target, upload the verified encrypted archive using the provider's connection details and access permissions. An FTP server name alone is not sufficient. A SafeDSX cloud storage subscription is not yet available.
Prepare recovery media in advance and check that your computer can boot from it. Physical disk restoration modifies the target disk; perform your first test only on an empty spare disk. Read the release notes for hardware validation and smaller-target migration limitations.
